NVIDIA RTX 2080 and 2080Ti Benchmarks and Reviews Released!
Whelp! They are finally here folks. The review of the year we all have been awaiting. Yesterday morning (9/19/2018) I woke up to find actual real world gaming benchmarks being produced by your favorite tech and pc youtubers. That’s right – real world benchmarks for the Nvidia RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti have been released and so far I am not too impressed. Let me explain.
RTX 2000 Series The Most Power Cards
It is very safe to say that Nvidia’s latest GPU’s are the most powerful on the market for gaming. Both the Nvidia RTX 2080 and Nvidia RTX 2080Ti pack a punch and are both equipped with their new ray tracing, artificial intelligence, and programmable shading technology. But at the moment only a few limited games will support this. And also at the moment Digital Combat Simulator does not support ray tracing. I currently own a 1080 Ti and here is the performance boost you could expect if upgrading to a 2080 Ti.
Price to Performance
As expected we are looking at about a 30% performance increase. But what I am not so much impressed with is the price per performance issue. For the 2080 Ti you are playing about 70% more for just 30% added power. OUCH! Based on the benchmarks and game testing by some of youtube top tech creators the price to per performance very hard to pay that high premium for a few more frames. It will cost you about $1200 for an Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti here in the US. Let that sink in for a second.
Fact of the matter is that we still do not know how this card will work out for DCS World. More
importantly DCS World in VR. My finial determining factor will be how well this card performs in VR. So I shall await someone from the DCS community to give use there take. Although I do expect it to perform very well for VR, I am still going to have a hard time dishing out $1200 bucks. At the end of the day, this will be then hang up for must of us gamers. Until next time, Peace.
